I remember the 1991 Gulf War well, and in fact visited the area in late 1991. After looking at the "extras" on the DVD version of Three Kings, you realize how accurate the movie is, having used USA veterans as consultants, and some of the extras were actually Guld War refugees. I rate it "8" of "10".The movie is action-packed and well-acted. The only thing that threw me off a bit was the sometimes strange mixture of humor and tragedy - people graphically getting killed in one scene, and characters being in humorous situations the next. Still, it is an entertaining movie overall, and gives a great glimpse of what the Gulf War was all about.

I cannot believe this film attempts to pass for a comedy. Since when is it funny to see a woman get her brains blown out while her young daughter watches and her husband (hog-tied) witnesses the murder? Have we become so desentized that killing can be funny and chemical agents just tickle us to death? Or, when a cow is blown up for pleasure do we giggle with mirth with no respect for our fellow creatures, since they didn't shoot first? (And probably should.) This was no comedy; it was a horror story and I walked out on this piece of shrapnel.

Three Kings is an amazing war movie that manages to balance comedy and drama extremely well, resulting in a film that's really funny, tense and harrowing. George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg are incredible and Ice Cube and Spike Jonze are great. David O.Russell's direction is also incredible and inventive. It's extremely well filmed and expertly paced. The soundtrack and the music by Carter Burwell are both excellent.
